New for the 2026–27 award year
Created by Public Law 119-21 (§83002), commonly called the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, signed by President Trump on July 4, 2025; programs became eligible starting July 1, 2026 (the 2026–27 award year).
It covers approved programs of 150–599 clock hours lasting at least 8 but fewer than 15 weeks, with a maximum award of $7,395 prorated by program length. Programs must show at least 70% completion and 70% job placement. So far the U.S. Department of Education has approved 21 programs at 7 colleges in 6 states: Iowa, Indiana, Nebraska, Texas, North Carolina and Florida.
